BACKGROUND:

Meg- as she is known by her friends- was born on Qo'nos to a Klingon mother and a Bajoran father. (Her father, Mar Belos, had been on Qo'nos as an ambassador from Bajor.) When Meg was 4 years old, her mother was involved in a battle aboard a space ship and was killed. In grief, her father resigned his post as ambassador and took his daughter to Earth, where they settled in Venezuela next door to a Cardasian wildlife tour guide and opened a pet shop.

Meg's childhood was a very calm one for a half Klingon. Her father did not know enough about Klingon culture to teach her of it- or so he said. Likely, he was too angry by his wife's death to even THINK about Klingons. And, since they were living on Earth- likely for good- he didn't find any reason to teach her much about Bajorans either. So, Meg knew only what she learned in school and from their Cardasian neighbor- Melan Setor- who became a very close friend of her and her father.

When Meg was 13 years old, her father remarried. Tass Lenna was also Bajoran and Meg loved her immediately. Lenna turned out to be a very good mother, understanding her step-daughter's Klingon tendencies and careful not to act like a mother too much. The two frequently went on weekends together or talked late into the night about silly teenage girl things such as boys or hair styles or what color goes best with their eyes.

When Meg finished secondary school, she applied to Starfleet Academy and was quickly accepted. She had learned so much of animal medicine from doctoring the animals in her father's pet shop, the connection to humanoid medicine was so natural, neither her father nor Melan was surprised. Shortly after receiving her acceptance letter, a Scottish family on holiday came into the shop. Their son- Robert McAnderw- had just graduated from the academy and was being sent to Jupiter station. The two became fast friends and kept in touch while Meg was in the academy.

After completing pre-med, Robert decided that since the two were such good friends, they may do well as more and Meg saw no reason to argue and the two were married only three months later. Because Meg still had to finish Medical school and Robert was still stationed at Jupiter station- he had refused two promotions in favor of staying closer to Meg- they weren't together as often as they'd have liked, but they were together often enough that in her second year of Medical school, Meg became pregnant with their first child, Christopher Robert. Since she only had two years left after he was born, she decided to stay in school and finish, even after becoming pregnant a second time and giving birth to Emily Laura before Christopher was even a year old.

Upon graduation, Meg was assigned to the USS Kilimanjaro- as was Robert as luck would have it. The two were so happy about being together, Meg became pregnant three more times, but because of her hectic schedule- or perhaps that her body was protesting the two previous pregnancies- she miscarried before the second trimester twice and the third child was still born. After that, there were no more pregnancies.

Once her residency was up, she was sent to the USS Eagle- stationed in the Beta quadrant at Yegorah- as the assistant CMO. Robert requested to be sent with her, but was denied. Instead, he was sent to the Everest which was also stationed in the Beta quadrant at Yegorah. After about a year, while the Everest was at the station and the Eagle was away, the Brekkon- who'd bought cloaking devices from the Romulans- attacked Yegorah and hundreds of Starfleet personnel were killed before the Brekkon were overcome. Meg and several of her nurses were sent to the Everest and Meg had the misfortune to discover her husband, nearly crushed under a fallen beam and quickly dying. She knew he wouldn't be saved, so she simply tried to make him comfortable. He died in her arms.

Meg took a few months off after that. She buried her husband and was comforted by her mother-in-law. Her children- now ages 3 and 4- barely knew their father and were confused as to why he was sleeping in a box. Meg had a difficult time explaining to them, but finally had luck with 'that's not daddy, he's left his body and gone where we cannot follow.' They seemed to vaguely understand this, but she knew it would be years before they would truly understand.

After her two months leave, Meg returned to Starfleet, choosing to leave her children with her father and step-mother. She was sent to the Altai as the Chief Medical Officer.

PERSONALITY PROFILE:

Meg is at the same time very sharp and very friendly. She is very well adjusted for a half Klingon- likely owing to the fact that her Klingon mother died when she was only 4 years old, leaving her Bajoran father to raise her. She is a strict boss, a loyal friend and a fierce warrior. She is quick to forgive- when forgiveness is asked for- but slow to forget. She will not tolerate insubordination and has been known to physically attack anyone who talks back to the commanding officer. (This only happened once and she simply grabbed the ensign's throat and demanded he apologize.)

PHYSICAL PROFILE:

Typical of Klingons, Meg is tall and well muscled, but typical of Bajorans, she is also thin. These two traits together give her an athletic appearance. Meg is never rarely seen without her earring, which is embellished with blue and white crystals- very unusual for a Bajoran.
