BACKGROUND:

Born at Sietch Tabr, oldest of the traditional desert sietches, Tanu was taught the ways of the desert so strictly that even when in a non-desert climate, she tends to conserve moisture. The eldest of nine children, she learned responsibility early. At the age of eleven, she caught and rode her first desert worm, commenting later that, “it’s not so hard! Why do the older children boast so?” Since few Fremen have interest in space travel- Arrakis having only one warp ship to its name- her family was surprised when she expressed a desire to attend Starfleet Academy, but pleased that she would keep tradition and become a Planteologist (Ecologist) as had every first born- and several others- since Liet Kynes. At the Academy, her frank honesty, snappish manor and quick mind made her very popular among students and professors alike although she never realized this. She graduated fifth in her class and was delighted to be assigned to the USS Black Hawk. (The hawk is a very respectable animal on Arrakis.)

PERSONALITY PROFILE:

Tanu is overall kind and patient, but can also be seen as uncaring. She tends to pay no attention to others and simply goes about her own business her own way. Typical of Fremen, she refuses to meddle in things that do not concern her. She will do what she sees best for the good of her sietch, family or the crew of the ship to which she is assigned. She is unconcerned for the rest of Arrakis and the Federation, assuming that those whose concern it is will care for them.

PHYSICAL PROFILE:

Tanu is of average height for a Fremen woman. Though quite muscular, she retains most of her femininity and is a lot heavier and stronger than she appears.
