Born in Stratford on Avon, Ontario to a wealthy Stock Broker and his young wife, Abbey led a privileged life from the start. The Road family was always very close, taking camping trips and vacation getaways together from the time Abbey was a newborn baby.
When Abbey was 6 years old, the Roads moved to Luna where Abbey made friends with a 35 year old Cellist and started taking lessons. She quickly took to the instrument and in her teenage years, considered playing with a professional orchestra. However, she decided to apply to Starfleet Medical after her science teacher recommended it based on her scores in anatomy and biology.
While in the Academy, Abbey was quicker to catch on than most and was recommended for an accelerated program that would allow her to learn the basics at the academy and finish her studies while working as a Medic under an approved Starfleet doctor. She was placed on the Patriot under Dr. George MacTaggart and Admiral Ryan Harper, who quickly became her best friends. Somewhere along the lines, she came by a Clarinet and has been learning how to play from one of her nurses.
When Abbey's grandfather died, George was Abbey's closest confidant and support on the Patriot. It was a natural transition from friend to lover and the two were soon engaged. However, it was not meant to be. About a month after the engagement was announced, George was on his way to a Medical conference on Vulcan when his shuttle was attacked by persons unknown and he was believed to be dead, though no body could be found after the shuttle had been ripped in two pieces. Believing him to be dead, Abbey tried to move on with her life, and, after several months, she is able to smile and laugh once more. |
Abbey is cheerful and friendly, automatically putting anyone who meets her at ease. She is fiercely loyal to her friends, family and those superior officers who have earned her undying respect and, sometimes, love. She enjoys debate and will often play "devil’s advocate" just to get a good discussion going. |
Abbey has a tattoo of a panther on her lower back and a pierced navel.
Abbey is tall and slim, but not skinny. Though well muscled, Abbey maintains the all-important feminine air. Her body is slightly disproportioned, her abdomen and legs being slightly more muscled than the rest, but she has learned how to hide this with clothing, so few would notice the difference. |
